SwiftBroadband (SB) is the next generation service from Inmarsat and will enable a new range of aeronautical communication services.
SwiftBroadband is a packet based network that offers users both “pay-per-minute” and “pay-per-Mbyte” service options. Standard “pay-per-minute” services include circuit switched telephone or ISDN and a range of streaming class services (32, 64 and 128 kbps). The Background Class service can provide data rates up to 432 kbps.
Telephone service features include most UMTS Network service features such as call forwarding, call holding and SMS.
The Omnipless SB products are aimed at extracting the maximum benefit from the SB services. These products will be scaleable to meet the needs of both bandwidth hungry and cost sensitive users.
Both the single and multi-channel SDUs have an integrated router function that creates a multi-user interface without the need for an external router.
The HPA-7400 is a 2 MCU linear amplifier that provides sufficient power to cover marginal satellite link situations such as when aircraft attitude changes (during banking and turns) or when the system operates at the edge of satellite coverage. |
